Shaq vs.

Watching the Shaq vs. featuring Kerri Walsh & Misty May was interesting as I was able to compare and contrast the game I witnessed against the game that aired.

First off, being a viewer who has edited footage, I saw some things that were not pretty (cut aways, etc.).  I knew by how they were taping, that they’d piece the games together.  In all honesty, I left after game 1 was complete.  I had been there all day watching volleyball from the Crocs suite (thanks to Kevin!!!).

I’m just one to notice things like, the scoreboard on the court was not used in the show, but it was while there in person… for obvious reason.  Also, a lot of the between point commentary was added in post (voice overs).

Here’s the point, I still watched and enjoyed the show… I find it convenient that they found the most secluded beach in Malibu to have Shaq run in a pink speedo and tank top.  No beach ever is that empty.

Fantasy Football Alert

If you are thinking of picking up Michael Vick for your team… please note, he may have a change of position – to tight end.

TMZ caught the comments last night when Vick arrived back in Virginia.  He was in Chicago earlier this week, not trying out for the bears, but participating in rebuilding his image at a speaking event for the Humane Society.

Cool Down – 8/11/09

After suffering an ankle sprain on the sands of Manhattan Beach, during a beach volleyball tourney over a week ago, I’m still a bit looped from the meds.  I’ve learned that I should have taken more time off work like the doc said, I have some good friends to help me get around & laugh at my pain, and crutches aren’t that bad.  I also learned that I’ve missed you all so much, and I can’t watch True Blood after dark while on meds.

AVP Dancers – Why? I was on the dance team in high school (Peninsula), and a Golduster (pom squad) in college (Purdue).  I still do not understand the necessity of dancers or spirit squad types for 3 sports – Hockey, Baseball, and Beach Volleyball.  For the AVP, the sport would be better served by screen printing “AVP.com” onto simple tanks & tees and tossing them to the crowd in between games.  It may even be less expensive.  Give me a call, I’ll help ya out.

NFL Hall of Fame Game – Loved the Titans uniforms but thought Vince Young looked one 3 & out from a breakdown.  I love football, but the arrival of the NFL games says that summer is over, and that makes me sad.  And yes, by using the punt fake for the TD, I don’t anticipate it to return for awhile if at all.

Tiger’s Roar – All Tiger said was that “I’m sorry John got in the way of a great battle” with regards to referee John Paramour advising both Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington that they were on the clock.  It was reported that Tiger was going to receive a fine, and this blogger and this news outlet ran with it.  I *heart* when a “source” is cited.  Tiger didn’t get fined, nor should he expect one.  If anything, the PGA would owe Tiger.

Vick’s Rub – Michael Vick is still rubbing too many people the wrong way, and has not yet signed with a team.  Tony Dungy, who I have much respect for, is Vick’s mentor during this repairing of image (that Mike has to accomplish, STAT) has stated that Micheal has about 5 teams interested in him.  Here’s the thing… Vick has not been around football in 2 years.  His last 2 seasons with the Falcons were not very productive, as defenses had figured out how to contain Vick and reduce his options.   Why would ANY team take on a guy who hasn’t played the game in 2 years?  It is a bad business decision to bring on a guy who hasn’t seen a locker room, conditioning coach, meeting room, or training table in one year, let alone two.  I am not even talking about the PR nightmare Micheal Vick is, that is another topic.  This isn’t about getting a guy who used to be the most remarkable athlete for player minimum… no, he would not start as a QB for any team, and you don’t even know for sure if he could be effective at the #2 or #3 spot.  Vick needs to take a serious look at the UFL, and sign ASAP; not wait to be rejected by 32 NFL teams.  He can say that he feels that he may need to prove himself as a player and that this venue under a seasoned coach is a great opportunity.  Vick needs to be humble, remorseful, and charasmatic.  Apparently we all can catch Michael Vick’s story on CBS’ 60 Minutes, Sunday, August 16th, 7pm ET/PT.

SportsNation? – Ionly learned of this show because I follow Kevin Love on Twitter, and you can follow me on Twitter too.  Anyway, how am I not the West Coast correspondant?

Hermosa AVP ’09

Saturday was a great day of men’s early round play that went until dusk on court 2, and a stunner of a ladies’ final.

Sunday will bring the men’s final and Shaq vs. Misty May and Kerri Walsh for Shaq’s new tv show…

More details to come.

Pictures, PLEASE!!!

There is a public display of drama going on here in Los Angeles.  Today, a plane carrying a banner referencing Reggie Miller is ALL the rage.  The plane has been seen travelling along the coast, past the Hermosa AVP event earlier today, and was headed south.

If you see the plane, whip out your camera and post all your plane pics here…

The banner reads…

“Reggie Miller stop persuing married women”

I am unsure of the punctuation on this lovely work, but send those photos over.

The banner is a fact, the rumors are that Prince Alexandre Egon von Fürstenberg is the man behind the banner, however, he & Ali Kay are not yet married.  So, who is the money behind the banner?

Update: the aerial ad company is now advertising their accomplishments… if they are using Reggie’s photo, how soon before they get an order from his attorney to remove his image as they are using his image w/out his consent for profit.

All Alone in AZ

Things seem to be taking a turn for the worse again for Matt Leinart.  The Hiesman Trophy winning, tenth overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, has been on back-up duty despite his hefty salary.  Now, it seems that the regime change in Arizona is finally catching up.

Leinart was brought in under Coach Denny Green, but Green got the axe in 2007.  Ken Whisenhunt was brought in, and now it seems as if the roster is getting shaped more his way.  The arrival of Brian St. Pierre has got all the sports news folks talking.  St. Pierre, a 29-yr-old out of Boston College, worked under Whisenhunt at Pittsburgh.

Pundits all around the NFL believe that a challenge has been levied against Leinart for the #2 spot.  From the outside looking in, I could agree.  If I was any other NFL team, I would see what I could do to get Leinart to be my #2 guy… he could come out a very desireable man b the start of the season.
