West Virgina @ Connecticut : West Va

Trick or Treat!?!?!?
In the battle for the bottom of the Big 10, we have Michigan visiting Purdue. Both team might as well dress up an go out tonight because I do not think that either team has much to play for. Michigan has an excuse for their dismal record, they are rebuilding. They have a new coach in Rich Rodriguez, and he has implemented a scheme that is not what these Wolverines were sporting last year. Purdue has no excuse, these are Joe Tiller’s recruits, the offense & defense is the same… “basketball on grass” but these players cannot get it to connect. Curtis Painter is not the same QB we saw last year. Next year was to be the rubilding year with Danny Hope at the helm… I don’t know if the team has lost hope with regards to any wins the rest of this season.
I hear there’s a party in Gerogia… The World’s Largest Cocktail Party.” A party so big, school was cancelled in the Clarke County School District cancelled class. Apparently, not enough subs could be found.
What a day… it is Halloween, it is Friday. This combination makes for a great evening once the Trick or Treat-ers stop ringing the doorbell, or you run out of candy, turn off the lights and abandon any areas of the house that are seen from the street.
Speaking of tricks, my football team tricked me this year. I fell into the trap that Purdue would be good. Good enough to win 7 or 8 games, go to another bowl game and cap off Joe Tiller’s career; not so bad that they have yet to win a conference game and are going into tomorrow’s home game against Michigan with 2 wins. The good thing about tomorrow’s game, it is for the bottom of the Big 10 as Michigan has been less than stellar themselves. So, I’m hoping for a win.
My plan for today is to eventually go out tonight, but tomorrow we will make our way out to Shark’s Cove for Purdue vs. Michigan at 9am pst and take it from there. There will be a Halloween hang-over of sorts as I think we will dress up for the game breakfast club style.
May all of you ghosts & goblins play nice today, and revel tonight!
After putting a hold on the game during the 6th inning on Monday, it now seems that baseball will not resume today. The earliest things will get started is Wednesday.
I do like how the game was suspended, after the Rays tied the game a 2 runs a piece.
Plenty of people are making a big ‘ol stink about how this situation has never happened in the World Series, EVER! I would like to remind people, that the season is also longer than EVER before. Baseball was not meant to have its champions crowned in November… these are the boys of summer. I’m not familiar with rain delays & nor’easters in August & Septemeber.
I’ve said before that baseball season is WAY too long. This is proof. Fans wearing parkas and slickers as rain pours and flurries are in the area should be for football. Every league seems to be doing eveything to lengthen its season, its hold on the American public. Adding preseason games, adding regular season games, making playoffs best of 7 instead of best of 5. Each league is infringing on the others, creating an overlap of disgusting proportion. Right now there is baseball, football, hockey, and basketball being played. Seriously? This is ruining sports. Sports are akin to the seasons… as the seasons change so do the sports we watch & play.
Playing March through Novemebr is a huge season, and should be shortened up. Then, we won’t see this ever again.
Happy Sunday, folks! Make this one count.
Tampa Bay @ Dallas : Bucs
Washington @ Detroit : Redskins
Buffalo @ Miami : Dolphins
St. Louis @ New England : Patriots
San Diego @ New Orleans : Saints (from London)
Kansas City @ NY Jets : Jets
Atlanta @ Philadelphia : Eagles
Oakland @ Baltimore : Ravens
Arizona @ Carolina : Cardinals
Cleveland @ Jacksonville : Jaguars
Cincinnati @ Houston : Bengals
NY Giants @ Pittsburgh : Steelers
Seattle @ San Francisco : 49′ers
MNF -
Indianapolis @ Tennessee : Titans
Keep in mind the Saints / Chargers game is live from London, and a home game for the Saints. I would like the Saints to pull this one off, but both them & the Chargers are struggling. The Colts are no where near the team that everyone expected to be. With the injuries piling up across the league, I’d have to say the the Steelers look good to make a very strong showing in the post season.
The Quick & the dirty… ladies & gents, here it goes.
Illinois @ Wisconsin : Wisconsin
Minnesota @ Purdue : Purdue
Texas Tech @ Kansas : Tech
Oklahoma @ Kansas State : OU
Kentucky @ Florida : Florida
Oklahoma State @ Texas : Texas
Georgia @ LSU : LSU
Penn State @ Ohio State : OSU
Notre Dame @ Washington : ND
USC @ Arizona : USC
I need Purdue to win this Homecoming game that I have neglected to attend. My pick for them is moreso hope that they show up and can win a big tn game, and not rational thought. My other picks reflect rational thought, but not my hopes… I in no way want Notre Dame to win. I want Ty’s team to have a big game. The Washington team is too young though, and I don’t believe they can put the pieces together on Saturday to beat the Irish.
Texas is flat out insane, period.
The Tampa Bay Rays prevented the worst-case scenario by fending off the Red Sox in game 7 of the ALCS, 3-1.

One would hope that no one gets hurt in the celebration… don’t be the one to start the dogpile, but be the one to jump on top.
Our clique of Purdue alums & fans cheered when Joey Elliott was put in during the 1st half of Purdue’s loss to Northwestern. Quickly we said, “Oh, Joey…” as a bad snap was not fallen on properly. When Joey, later in the 1st half, ended up taking the ball down field and neglected to slide, he took it to the head. We then had a collective, “Oh, no” as the starter had to go back in to replace the concussed back-up QB. I noticed that only 2 QB’s are listed on the depth chart. By the way, I was cool with putting in #17… unfortuanately he is ANOTHER senior QB.
Another item we cheered about was having a different place-kicker… not as great of a result as hoped, but better, and glad for the change.
That’s how that was… miserable. We began to celebrate the little things, like first downs, when accomplished. Let me tell you, that recovered on-sides kick definately got a while lotta love after the touchdown. We have aready professed that it is never too early to get started on next season, so give some of the younger kids a chance.
While at the gym, I watched USC & OSU take it to their host opponents… it pretty much became pointless to watch. When it is such a blow out, it is hard to accept how you are spending your time.
Bummer about the Rays today… momentum is definately on the side of Boston, but I really am tired of Boston winning. The last 4 years has been full of super bowls, world series’, and now an NBA championship… enough already.
I also got to see some UFC while out, which was good. I need to go to my first fight still.
Update: Joey Elliott suffered a separated shoulder, and will have surgery. I guess there is always next year.
Hi there… I am proud to finally produce my picks for tomorrow… enjoy!

I do have a few upsets, te truth is, I can;t pick against Purdue anymore… I hope they have put it together.
With the Angels bowing out in the first round and the Dodgers losing last night in the NLCS, baseball season in Los Angeles is officially over.
Mind you, we have 2 NBA teams, 2 NHL teams, no NFL team (USC is our version), and UCLA football. We also have the sand & surf, mountains (skiing come Thanksgiving)& canyons, city & desert… so it’s not like we have other things to do.
Now that I cannot root for the Dodgers, Go Rays!
