Congrats!

So, Tom Brady’s wife gave birth to their son on Tuesday.  He has yet to tell the media what he & Gisele have named their first child together.

After leaving the game against Miami early, Brady is again questionable for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

I Laughed For Bald Bryan

What a great evening!  Laughs for Bald Bryan, hosted by Adam Carolla, raised money for “Bald” Bryan Bishop who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor this past April.

Bryan and his bride Christie went onstage near the start of the show to give an update and to say thanks to the sell-out crowd, before retiring to their front row-center seats amongst their family and friends.

Kate with Adam Carolla

Adam Carolla did more than just emcee the night, he and his wife were essential in getting the evening to come together and using their friends to help.  As it was said, you want Adam Carolla as your friend if you get a brian tumor.

Kate with Joel McHale

Joel McHale would want me to tell you, that you can catch him on Community at 8/7ct Thursdays on NBC.

To learn about Bryan’s progress, you can read Christie’ s blog about what Bryan and her go through everyday.

I did participate in the silent auction and won the table saw… something I could have totally used today as I worked on renovating my new home.  I am waiting on delivery.

Laughs for Bald Bryan

Tonight is the night!  Besides a great night of comedy from Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Dr. Drew, Greg Fitzsimmons, Dana Gould, Larry Miller, Joel McHale, and Eric Stromer, and music by The Dan Band and Bad Religion the night is for a great (tax-deductable) cause… Bryan Bishop.

Besides the jokes and music for those in attandance, there is also an auction that can be accessed on-line for those who will not be at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre tonight for Laughs for Bald Bryan.

I am hoping for Dr. Drew and Ace to team up for some live Loveline but either way, I promise to ask Dr. Drew how to fix my “picker”.

I will have pictures following the event.

Dig 4 Kids Event Tonight

Trilogy Spa in Manhattan Beach will be hosting a spa event benefitting Dig 4 Kids, tonight.

The event consists of 20-minute massages, food, drink, and a great cause.  Click here to go to the Dig 4 Kids homepage and sign-up.

Dig 4 Kids is a non-profit 501(c)3 and strives to help children learn the importance of education and exercise.  The program provides children assistance with schoolwork and counseling, coupled with volleyball instruction and training.

Great Update

Some of you may not be familiar with Bryan Bishop; he is in my peer group, went to USC, and is an acquaintance of mine.   If you used to listen to Adam Carolla on 97.1/Free FM in the mornings in Los Angeles, or you tune into Adam’s podcast, then you may know Bald Bryan, so you do know Bryan Bishop.

Back in April, Bryan and his then-fiance Christie were given the news that Bryan had a brain tumor.  You can read all about it, as I do, at An Inconvenient Tumor.  Fast-forward to today, Christie has shared that the tumor has shrunk.

There is still a long road ahead for these two newlyweds, and a fundraiser for Bryan will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Wilshire Ebell Theater.  Ticket infomation will be forth coming, but according to Christie…

As far as guest involvement, Adam Carolla will be doing some stand-up and he and Jimmy Kimmel are busy recruiting other top comedic and musical talents to perform. It should be an awesome evening for everyone involved and we’re really looking forward to it!

Congrats to the great news!

Greg Oden Knows ‘NSYNC

It’s great that it is for charity, but Greg Oden singing “It’s Gonna Be Me” was saved by his snazzy dance moves.

The NBA center took the mic at a charity event in Oregon… and I found someone to split singing lessons with.

We Need More Like This

Over here at SportsSocialite.com, I am trying to promote the good… I really am!

The problem is that it is so much easier to find the bad than the good.  My friend Kristy let me know that Matt Leinart was on KLAC this afternoon with the guys on Loose Cannons

I was at my acupuncturist in a very zen like state (a girl needs her rest), so I had to go and listen to the interview once it was loaded to the website.

Matt & the guys talked about the Lakers & Suns, a bit about the Cardinals & USC and touched on UCLA & Norm Chow… then things started to get interesting, Matt and his foundation are involved in a few football camps bearing the Leinart name, but…

The point is that Matt has developed the LA Urban Youth Football League

The Matt Leinart Foundation (www.mattleinartfoundation.org) would like to invite you to join us in the creation of the LA Urban Youth Football League (UYFL).  UYFL will be a full contact football league targeting 7th and 8th grade students who were either too large to participate in the traditional youth leagues such as Pop Warner, and/or lacked the financial means/resources to participate.

Needless to say, I am impressed & proud that a local guy who has had some success is helpin’ out in such an important way.  I am inclined to seek out others who are doing the same…

Charitable Act Left Hangin’ By Wal-Mart

According to an exclusive posted by TMZ this morning, NFL star Andre Johnson claims his charity got the short end of the stick for a May 3 event.

The Andre Johnson Foundation was to give away 750 bicycles to underprivileged kids.  These bikes were to be purchased at Wal-Mart in return for a dotation of water & ice… not “ice” like Jay-Z wears, but actual ice, as in frozen water that comes in a bag.

According to TMZ, there was a problem with the order and fewer bikes were purchased by Johnson.  Wal-Mart’s reaction to the lesser order was to hold the ice, and the water.

Seems dissapointing that the kids are the ones who end up without.  Kudos to Andre Johnson getting involved and doing some good.

This is one more reason not to shop at Wal-Mart.
