Friday Night Lite

Welcome to the end of another week…with the rain beating down on Los Angeles again on this Friday, nothing is more appropriate than Chinese food, wine, and a movie.

Tonight, we will venture out to see From Paris With Love because one of my besties and I <3 Jonathan Rhys Meyers.  We watch The Tudors constantly… we will watch the episodes over & over again.

It is widely reported that this movie isn’t that good… John Travolta is in it.  Not sure what to really make of that.  I think I am more upset about the upcoming season of The Tudors being the last, darn you Showtime.

There may be some dancing, and additional drinks after, depends on the rain… no body walks in L.A.

Dating Tips From the NFL, Courtesy of Cosmo

Some of these men may be attached already, but their advice still proves relevant.  See what these 10 NFL hotties think.

Reminder…

As I have said before, ladies, do not go after a guy who is already in a relationship.  I do not care if he pursues you.

Maybe at first you may have no idea who he is, but after you meet him you are going to go home and use Google…and you will then learn if he is married, you might learn if he has a girlfriend depending on how famous he is.  At this point, the next time he contacts you, you are to explain that you understand that he has a wife/girlfriend and that you feel uncomfortable about it the situation.  You are to decline his offers…

In all actuality, Tiger has not lived up to the image that we have seen…I’m sure his mom is disappointed as well.  But, this is really none of my business.

Also, I am totally fine with the sketch SNL did…and yes, I have read TMZ almost everyday since the story broke.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yikes, need my picks!

Green Bay @ Detroit – Lions
Oakland @ Dallas – Raiders

Update: wow, I was off.  I mst have been tired from the fun Wednesday night out with friends and needing to get dinner started. :/

Laughs for Bald Bryan

Tonight is the night!  Besides a great night of comedy from Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Dr. Drew, Greg Fitzsimmons, Dana Gould, Larry Miller, Joel McHale, and Eric Stromer, and music by The Dan Band and Bad Religion the night is for a great (tax-deductable) cause… Bryan Bishop.

Besides the jokes and music for those in attandance, there is also an auction that can be accessed on-line for those who will not be at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre tonight for Laughs for Bald Bryan.

I am hoping for Dr. Drew and Ace to team up for some live Loveline but either way, I promise to ask Dr. Drew how to fix my “picker”.

I will have pictures following the event.

LA’s Open NFL Market

Los Angeles, the second largest city in the United States, still does not have an NFL team.  This has gone on since I was in high school, not that I am dating myself…but it feels like a long time.

In Los Angeles, it has become the land of the every-team.  Plenty of bars are dedicated to the airing of the 32 NFL teams around the country.  The Raiders maintain player appearances in the Los Angeles area, in an attempt to continue to push merchandise in their Raider Image stores.  Locally, I consider them to be the most represented franchise.

For being so close to San Diego, one would think that the marketing opportunities to push the Chargers brand are wide open.  Instead, I’ve noticed more of an Arizona Cardinals presence.

The most recent evidence of Arizona invading the LA market is at Cold Stone Creamery.  There, you can purchase gift cards that have Larry Fitzgerald emblazoned on them… and you can collect all four.  Now technically, Larry’s partnership is with Cold Stone and Cold Stone is nationwide… but I think it is a smart move for Arizona to try for a slice of the LA market.

I would believe that when Arizona acquired Matt Leinart, and temporarily pegged him the QB of their franchise’s future, the Cardinals believed that with Matt Leinart, came an LA market that would not only buy jerseys, but has a jet-set crowd that will fly the 55 min flights to PHX and head over to Glendale for games here and there.  Due to the play of Kurt Warner, the Cardinals haven’t gotten the readiy available chunk of Los Angeles that is ripe for the picking.  Here, private companies continue to propose stadium configurations to local city councils (none of which have actully been in Los Angeles), and too many groups, non-collectively, are trying to be next in line to buy a team and relocate it here.

The NFL is huge, and doesn’t need the LA market to survive, but as a resident of Los Angeles, I would like to feel as if the NFL cares about getting a franchise here.

My Essay Regarding the Flu

Halloween weekend started off fine for me, but come Saurday night I was constantly cold, had headaches, and continuously yawning so I went home.  I woke up miserable on Sunday, but instead of just the chills and headaches, I also had stuffy/runny nose, chest congestion, body aches, and a sore throat.

Due to my health history,  know I am high risk for the flu.  I am not one to mess around so Sunday morning I went to the local urgent care, where the doc did diagnose me with the flu and gave me some Rx’s to get fixed up.  The doc explained that he wouldn’t test me for the oink, oink flu because the test’s reliabity is only 50%.  Since I have the flu, the treatment is the same.

No, I do not get flu shots.  I do understand that because I am high-risk I should.  The flu shot is not 100% safe, that is a fact.  If you are not sure about my statement, please look into the case of Desiree Jennings.  She had successfully gotten flu shots in the past, but the flu shot she got in August has left her permanently disabled.

A Friendly Reminder…

Ladies, do not go after a married man… they will tell you stories and not leave their wives.

This goes for every man- anchor, athlete, actor, pastor, police man, politician, bus driver, baliff, brick layer, stock broker, salesman, stenographer.

Do yourself a favor and run, don’t just walk away.

Guys, when you do cheat on your wife or girlfriend, there is always the potential that you get a girl who is lacking a few cards in her deck.  Be careful of this, she will not only ruin your personal life, but your professional life as well.

Don’t put your wife and children through this.

Great Update

Some of you may not be familiar with Bryan Bishop; he is in my peer group, went to USC, and is an acquaintance of mine.   If you used to listen to Adam Carolla on 97.1/Free FM in the mornings in Los Angeles, or you tune into Adam’s podcast, then you may know Bald Bryan, so you do know Bryan Bishop.

Back in April, Bryan and his then-fiance Christie were given the news that Bryan had a brain tumor.  You can read all about it, as I do, at An Inconvenient Tumor.  Fast-forward to today, Christie has shared that the tumor has shrunk.

There is still a long road ahead for these two newlyweds, and a fundraiser for Bryan will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Wilshire Ebell Theater.  Ticket infomation will be forth coming, but according to Christie…

As far as guest involvement, Adam Carolla will be doing some stand-up and he and Jimmy Kimmel are busy recruiting other top comedic and musical talents to perform. It should be an awesome evening for everyone involved and we’re really looking forward to it!

Congrats to the great news!

Thursday Nite Is…

…Where ranked, road team go to die.

I said the same thing last year. Wow, Ole Miss. I didn’t know why y’all were ranked so high in the first place. Honestly, I had no idea.

It’s ok, you are who I knew you were. I got to watch your highlights while David Ryan Harris was tuning up before his set at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach.

Usually I would try to watch some of the Thursday night college football live, however I am a traditionalist and believe college football is for Saturdays only, and with the games on so early here in Los Angeles, I am busy enjoying the sunshine while it lasts until “fall back”.
