2010 Fantasy Draft

I am entering my very first NFL Fantasy Football League and my draft is tonight. I may have spent more time selecting a team name, Louis Vuitton & Dom, than working on my draft prep… I’m kidding. I’ve been cramming for the last 90 mins. I’ll post later how my team rounds out.

Steelers QB Faces Suspension

Although criminal charges will not be filed against Ben Roethlisberger for the latest accusation of sexual assult, it seems as if the commish will have some penalty of his own to levy.

Big Ben met with Roger Goodell on Tuesday regarding the lastest incident in what seems to be a stream of shakey behavior since Ben crashed a motorcycle back in 2006 while not wearing a helmet.

Many people with NFL opinions think that Ben may get a 2-4 game suspension to be levied by the league.  The only question seems to be will these be pre-season games or regular season games that the Steelers would be without their 2-time Super Bowl winning QB.  Different arguments range regarding the duration of suspension as substance abusers getting 4-games out while Ben never had charges brought against him criminaly.  I am thinking 4 games, regular season.  Substance abuse only hurts the person taking the substance unless this person then gets in a car, a la Donte Stallworth.  The charge of sexual assult is dangerous and should be treated as such.

McNabb Refuses Oakland’s Appeal

It has been widely reported in the past few days that the Eagles are working on a trade with Oakland to get Donovan McNabb off their roster.  The only person not cool with this concept seems to be McNabb himself.

Donovan only has 1 year remaining on his contract, so seems like it is in Philly’s best insterest to re-negotiate with him so they can trade him away with more years intact.  Not many teams would risk money, draft picks and the like on a guy they will only have for one season.  It would be in Donovan McNabb’s best interest to put a trade approval clause in his contract, if he does re-negotiate.

The NFL draft is less than 3 weeks away with new QB talent looking ripe for the pickin’ too.

Dancing With (Some of) the Stars?

Monday night, the newest Dancing with the Stars aired.  Pleaes note that the term “Stars” does apply loosely.  The show should really have the subtitle of “People whose names you may know of, but are not actually stars”.

Here’s the cast, and where you may know them from -

Aiden Turner – soap actor, All My Children, airs on ABC

Pamela Anderson – actress, model, best known for Baywatch

Chad Ochocinco – wide-receiver, Cincinnati Bengals

Erin Andrews – sports reporter, ESPN (owned by ABC)

Shannon Doherty – actress, best know for Beverly Hills, 90210

Buzz Aldrin – astronaut

Niecy Nash – actress, comedian, Reno 911

Evan Lysacek – 2010 Olympic gold-medalist, men’s figure skating

Kate Gosselin – reality tv personality, mom of 8, best known for Jon and Kate Plus 8

Jake Pavelka – reality tv personality, The Bachelor (also on ABC)

Nicole Scherzinger – singer/dancer, The Pussycat Dolls

I tuned in just in time for Pam, and the snippits of each performance.  Of course the ice skater and the singer do the best as they are used to choreography.  There is a completely different set of memorization techniques to click into for choreography and I miss it!

I will probably watch consistantly, but wonder how Chad Ochocinco will shoot this show and his new dating show.

More Sports Stories on TMZ Than ESPN

Ok, not really.  But taking a look at TMZ just now, I have discovered that someone over there enjoys the sports talk as much as I do… Here are the sports releated stories on TMZ  -

Shaq and Wife Reach Divorce Settlement
Khloe Kardashian — My Sister is Public Emeny #1 (showing a pic of her with Lamar Odom)
NBA Star Arrested for DUI in Miami Beach
Sharapova & Vujacic Can’t Handle Each Other
Report: Tiger Woods Hires Dubya’s Spin Man
NBA Owner Accused of Screwing Pregnant Nanny
Nike to Vince Lombardi: Give Us Our Money Back!

And this does not even include an article that references Kyle Boller.

Big Ben is Accused Again

*sigh*

I dislike repeating information like this, but apparently Ben Roethlisberger is again being accused of sexual assault, according to TMZ

Stuff like this does make me sad, you hope that these guys who are so successful are good guys.  When negative stories like this come out about men, who so many look up to and admire for their talent and acheivement, it is just sad.

2010 NFL Combine

I wonder about the type of person I am to watch the combine on a Sunday morning while eating breakfast. It is QB’s & WO’s… and there are some kids who are looking good and others who are good looking.

Super Bowl Sunday

Here it is… Sunday,February 7, 2010, Super Bowl XLIV. The Colts versus the Saints.

Indianapolis vs. New Orleans – Saints

There is plenty to be said about the injuries, the Haitian ties, the team that has never been, and the team the has recently won.

My advice for today is to play your game, and let it rip…. the only thing to force out there are fumbles.  The rest should just come.

It would be a great story for the Saints to return to New Orleans, the city that was to host the Super Bowl this year, as Champions.

As for the halftime entertainment, CBS chose TheWho… and The Who’s music is featured as the intoduction for the 3 CSI shows that are on CBS… connect the dots people.

Conflict in Indiana – Colts or Brees?

The fact that Drew Brees went to Purdue and the Colts are Indy’s team has finally drawn some attention to the lay person, or the Chicago Tribune, which I didn’t know was still a paper.

Let me draw you a comparison:

Drew Brees – raised in TX, recruited to Purdue (West Lafayette, IN, 60-ish miles north of Indianapolis) to play QB, wore #15, went to bowl games in each of his 4 years at Purdue, and capped it off with a trip to the 2001 Rose Bowl… now QB of the New Orleans Saints, wearing #9

Colts – started off in Baltimore, in 1984 the Colts moved to Indianapolis.

So, Drew led Purdue to football success, which included a trip to the 2001 Rose Bowl.  Yes, he is an icon at Purdue, he has his name on a building and a street, I think.

Here’s the issue, if you grew up in Indiana, and the Colts are your team, and you went to Purdue or are a fan of Purdue, who do you root for?

There are a variety of ways to look at it, but I didn’t grow up in Indiana.  I grew up in LA.  I am not a Raiders fan, or a Rams fan.  I was a Chargers fan, but then they let Drew go… so now I am a Saints fan.  But as you may know, I kinda like those Cardinals.

I don’t hear the media making a big deal out of the other Purdue player that will be on the sidelines come Sunday – Curtis Painter.  So either way, another Boilermaker will be getting a ring, whether it is earned or by default is to be determined.

Super Bowl Cometh

I’m not sure why the Super Bowl is being advertised as being in “South Florida” instead of “Miami”, but one reason may be trying to make the game seem like it is taking place in an area that may be not as expensive to be a tourist in, easy to get to, and not as exclusive, in hopes to lure more fans to the site.

In any regard, today is media day.  Seems like in order to celebrate Media Day, some of the Saints players hit up the night-life Monday night since all they would do today is answer a few questions with the likes of E! News, random radio guys, amongst others.  I know the game is still 5 days away, and you may go out on a Monday night during your normal playing schedule, but, this is for THE SUPER BOWL… not week 8 game versus random scheduled opponent.

Is it me, or does Reggie Bush just seem to stand out and draw the other not-as-well-known players attention in a situation like going out until 3:30am?
